Free Captive Killer Whales

Killer whales were first captured live and displayed in exhibitions in the 1960s, soon becoming popular attractions at public aquariums and aquatic theme parks due to their intelligence, trainability, striking appearance, playfulness in captivity and sheer size.

As of December, 2014, there are 57 orcas in captivity worldwide, 35 of which are captive-bornThe majority of today's theme-park killer whales were born in captivity: 32 out of 45. Kalina, a female orca born in September 1985 at SeaWorld Orlando, was the first captive orca calf to survive more than two months.

The SeaWorld parks have mistreated their whales and abused them by separating them from their pods, living in a small tank, punishing and hurting them for not wanting to perform and making them perform in order to get food. These killer whales are born in captivity and on top of each other in their tanks.

Tilikum along with other SeaWorld whales, Miami Seaquarium (Lolita- the oldest killer whale in captivity should retire and go back home with her pod), Marineland Canada, Marineland (Antibes) and Loro Parque should all not be able to hold killer whales captive as it is not morally acceptable to the animals and our society. They don't treat them fairly as an animal rather as just an investment to make money.

These whales need to be in their natural habitat and live their lives normally in the vast ocean.
