Dangerous intersection of Junction road and Sandgate Roads.
The intersection of Junction Road and Sandgate Road is one of the inner north's worst intersections and needs residents’ support to make an upgrade happen. 28 Nov 2013 City North News Jane Chudleigh.
We all recognize that as Tim Nicholls has advised City North News this is “predominantly ... a state responsibility”.
Tim Nicholls, the Newman government’s member for Clayfield and Treasurer for Queensland, needs to do more to make our electorate safer for pedestrians and businesses.
The Facts –
1) Our community is unaware of any action taken since local business owners raised this issue with City North news.
2) There have already been injuries and a fatality at the intersection this year.
3) An 82-year-old female pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle in August.
4) Three vehicles that have left the intersection and hit the shops in the past few years (source facts 2-4, City North News).
The petitioners ask that the Newman government, Tim Nicholls, Scott Emerson, Jack Dempsey and the Quirk LNP City Council take urgent action to:
1) Ameliorate the existing potential for serious accidents, deaths and property damage in this area.
2) Provide urgent funding for a more serious overdue upgrade of the intersection.
