There are currently many problems that welfare recipients in Colorado are facing. The problems that I have found with the Colorado Welfare System include; massive amounts of paperwork to be filled out, many delays and loss of benefits, unsympathetic caseworkers, and computer problems with the CBMS.

In an article in The Denver Post by county commissioners Susan Beckman, Kathy Hartman, and Jeanne Nicholson, they admit to the failing computer system in Colorado, but unfortunately nothing is being done to rectify the situation. As a single mother of three boys I am very close to the problems that the Colorado Welfare System is experiencing and I am constantly losing my benefits for one reason or another, at no fault of my own and my family is suffering.

I have surveyed other people who are currently using the welfare system in Colorado, and I am not alone in the problems that I am facing. Attached with this petition is a copy of the research paper that I wrote for an English class at Front Range Community College on the current welfare system in Colorado, this outlines the many problems in great detail.

We, the undersigned, call on the Colorado Government to take action on the current problems with the welfare system.

We, the undersigned, ask that you correct the current problems with the Colorado Benefits Management System, that you hold your employees accountable for the job that they have been hired to do and make the delays and loss of benefits stop, and that you make the paperwork and process of receiving welfare benefits more "user-friendly."

We, the undersigned, ask that you create a welfare system in Colorado that does the job it is meant to do, assist those in need. Thank you.
