It is a crime. Straight up. Fathers have been getting away with refusing to financially support THEIR children for far too long. Mothers have been forced to struggle to take care of their children. While the fathers only have to support themselves. Family Responsibility Office of Ontario Canada has, quote, told me:
"He only owes about $4,000, that is not enough to money for us to take enforcement actions".
$4,000 may not be a lot of money to someone who is employed by service Canada. However $4,000 will provide my children with food is something we have been struggling to provide and would help us tremendously.
Our court order states we meet in Port Hope. I live in Belleville. He lives in Bowmanville. I was found in contempt of court for not being able to afford the gas money to drive and meet our children's father. In a judge's eyes I was not following the lame "court order".
Our "court order" also states the father is to pay $474.00 every month. He does not follow the "court order" nor does FRO care. Clearly. I feel ANYONE who does not pay child support (following the "court order") should be found in contempt of court. I am open to opinions.
