End Sending Horses Across Texas Border to be Slaughtered

Hi, my name is Erin and I have read many articles and seen a few documents on horse slaughterhouses. It is extremely inhuman and a very gruesome process.

First, an unwanted horse is shipped to a sale barn, where sometimes the 'killer traders', or 'killer buyers' lurk. The will buy the horses who are not bought and later they will transport the horses to the slaughterhouse.

Next the horses are loaded into trailers. Lots of times these trailers are the very unsafe double-decker trailers. These double-decker trailers are not designed for horses, but for cattle, pigs, etc. In fact, a few years ago 18 horses being trailered to Mexico in a double-decker bus, all had to be put to sleep because the trailer flipped over onto its side.

The entire time the horses are being trailered there is no food or water, and the horses have already had their last meal.

The horses are cramped into small stalls with other horses, or are put into some other small area to await their fate.

The horses will be lead out where men will jump on the horse with knives and clubs hoping to weaken the horse. The horse is lead into a shoot (much like one used for slaughtering sheep). There they are shot with a bolt gun until the horse is rendered unconscious. Be warned the men who do this are inexperienced.

After the horse is hopefully unconscious they are hung by their hind legs and lifted up into the air where their throats are slashed. And then once blood is leaking onto the floor below them, and they are probably not even dead yet the horses are stripped of there meat.
