End LA County's Harrassment of Starlight

Background (Preamble):
2006, LA County created an ordinance to regulate medical marijuana dispensaries, there is no mention of collectives and/or cooperatives.
2008, CA Attorney General issued guidelines to regulate medical marijuana. It states "although medical marijuana 'dispensaries' have been operating in CA for years, dispensaries, as such, are not recognized under the law. As noted above, the only recognized group entities are cooperatives and collectives.
April 2009, Starlight Center became a legally recognized CA cooperative. LA County still has not issued a single medical marijuana dispensary license and continue to deprive its residents safe access with its discriminatory and arbitrary ordinance.
August 2009, Starlight Center is issued a "Notice of Violation" for operating a medical marijuana dispensary despite our vain attempt to explain we're a state recognized MMJ co-op.
September 2009, under threat of arrest and being hauled away to jail, Starlight volunteers close the co-op.
Starlight loses its effort to obtain a temporary restraining order against LA County's ongoing harassment.
October 2009, Starlight reopens during the appeal process.
Present: We must prove to the presiding judge Starlight members will suffer 'grave or irreparable harm' if we are forced to close again.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call on LA County to end the harassment of Starlight & its members. We understand the difference between a state recognized co-op vs an illegal dispensary. Despite Starlight being 600 ft by a daycare, there are 7 facilities serving alcoholic beverages within a 1,000 foot of that daycare. It would be discriminatory to force Starlight to close while we suffer grave harm to our well being.
Without Starlight as my MMJ co-op, I would travel farther and/or pay more for my medicine. They would not be as professional or as kind, and also operating without a proper license since you have never issued to anyone. Please stop wasting my tax dollars; Starlight provides me my much needed medicine and is a positive asset to the community.
