Children and adults have expressed grave concern regarding the intersection at Howard Street, Rogers Avenue, and Greenview Avenue.
Complaints have been lodged to 311 by families, community organizations and business owners. This is a wonderful opportunity to address an intersection that has been a hazard for years. Hundreds of families travel this intersection going to and from school, grocery shopping, to church and to other day-to-day activities. The intersection itself is the issue.
We propose the solution for the intersection is the use of a roundabout. This requires drivers and pedestrians to mindfully enter into this intersection. It would make it impossible for drivers to travel through the intersection without stopping. An added bonus is that this would be a symbol of community unity.
Thousands of community members would encounter this traffic solution and know that their complaints and concerns were being addressed and that they were a part of making this change, making their families safer.
I have occasion to travel in Rogers Park and have encountered the intersection at Howard Street, Rogers Avenue, and Greenview Avenue.
I support the implementation of a traffic calming solution in this intersection.
