We the people of the state of Mississippi understand that the State Superintendent of Education is appointed.
We Sign this petition asking for an initiative on the ballot in the general election to require that the Mississippi State Superintendent of Education is an elected position.
We also ask that the salary of the State Superintendent of education does not exceed the salary of the Governor.
This initiative shall state;
The State Superintendent of Education shall be an elected office.
The State Superintendent must have been a resident of the State of Mississippi for no less than 10 years and shall hold a master’s degree in education administration and must have spent no less then 5 years in education administration.
The State Superintendent must be 30 years old to hold the office. The State Superintendent shall be elected to 4 year terms and is not subject to term limits.
The State Superintendent of education salary shall not exceed the salary of the Governor.
