Drug Tests for Medicaid

I am asking for support in a fight against medicaid benefits being given to drug addicts and alcoholics. I work in the health care field and constantly deal with patients that cannot afford a three or four dollar prescription, yet can afford to go buy a hit.

I myself and my fellow co-workers in order to be employed have to take a drug test and are subject to random drug tests, at our employers desecration. I for one feel that if you are going to receive benefits from our government you should also be subjected to the same. I understand that you have to make next to nothing in order to be on medicaid. However, if we are providing housing and other means for these people from our paychecks which we have to be clean to receive than why should we not expect the same from medicaid recipients.

Massachusetts is currently working on a study to support this cause and Missouri has tried, yet failed to pass a law requiring drug tests. There is a high cost in testing these individuals. However, I think this would only be initially, in the long run I believe we would have less expenses when these people would longer be needing my and other health care services on just about a daily or weekly basis.
