The Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989 requires institutions receiving federal financial assistance to establish drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs for students and employees.

While TESC expels hundreds of its students every school year for the use of drugs and alcohol, they neglect to enforce a "Zero Tolerance Policy" on its Resident And Dining Services staff with the use of random drug screenings.

This is the only way the students of TESC can be assured that the authorities enforcing the student code of conduct ARE NOT violating the codes themselves.

We the student-body of TESC expect our institution to adhere to its own policies by conforming to the The Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989. This act requires institutions receiving federal financial assistance to establish drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs for students and employees.

While TESC upholds this act to the letter of the law in regards to its student-body, they neglect to enforce a "Zero Tolerance Policy" to its Resident Advisors.

Remember, these are the individuals in charge of enforcing the student code of conduct on campus. This is why it is imperative to enact mandatory drug screenings on these personnel to ensure a better quality of life in regards to Evergreen's student-body.
