On Feb. 18 2014, at a presentation to the Long Beach City Council (California/USA), Assistant City manager Suzanne Frick stated, "We will be proposing to the council that the restrictions about allowing dogs be lifted so dogs could be walked on the new path."

This petition, that will be presented to the LB City Council, asks that LBMC 6.16.010 be amended and/or modified to allow dog owners to walk their leashed dog(s) on the Pedestrian Path, as per the City Managers suggestion. The Ped-Path runs from Belmont Shore to Shoreline Village.

We realize that there may be a trial period, but will be grateful if this change is considered.

We, the undersigned, ask the Long Beach City Council to amend and/or modify Long Beach Municipal Code #6.16.010, to allow dog owners and walkers to use the newly completed Pedestrian Path to walk their leashed dog(s).

Currently it is illegal to walk your dog on the beach and the Pedestrian Path is considered "on the beach."
