The 1992 Supreme Court ruling states that sales made online are not required for sales tax if the seller does not have a physical store in the state where the buyer is from. This is one of the benefits being eyed by customers purchasing products and services online; aside from its convenience, as well as the effort and time they save. However, this may not be for long, as an act to collect sales tax on purchases made online was proposed.

If this bill is passed and becomes a law, it doesn’t matter if the business has a physical store in a state or not, as it will be subjected to sales tax. There is an exception for small businesses that do not make over $1 million per year and do not have a brick and mortar. But this is too high, especially for small retailers that are operating on the web. Let’s do our part to prevent this act from being passed by signing your name on this petition.
