Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) nurses working under the Department of Family and Community Services are the first nurses to face sweeping cuts to their awards by the state Liberal/National government.

But we are fighting back by starting a campaign for pay parity with nurses in the Public system.

This petition of citizens of NSW is concerned with the considerable disadvantage faced by people with a disability in residential care provided by Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) and the nurses who care for them.

Low nurse staffing levels in some residences mean that client care is being adversely impacted. ADHC is experiencing significant difficulty recruiting nurses and there is a well recognised shortage of qualified nurses.

Disability nurses are paid much less than other nurses working in the public health system, yet all nurses are bound by the same legislative and professional frameworks.

The undersigned therefore call for an improvement in the wages of the caring, dedicated nurses who look after people with disabilities and complex health care needs - specifically, that a nurse working in disability services is paid the same as a nurse working in a public hospital.

People with disabilities deserve better. Disability nurses deserve better pay.

The Disability nurses deserve better pay petition to NSW Parliament was written by NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association and is in the category Employment at GoPetition.
