On March 25, 2009, New York's Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) approved to raise fares, eliminate bus and subway routes, and cut jobs, by a 12-to-1 vote. To view all proposed changes scheduled to go into effect May 31, 2009, please follow this link: http://mta.info/mta/09/overview.html.
We demand the following from New York's Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA):
- more ACCOUNTABILITY to their customers;
- better FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT;
- a more diverse BOARD, who regularly take public transportation;
- TRAINS and BUSES that run on regular intervals and arrive on time;
- clean STATIONS; and
- understandable ANNOUNCEMENTS.
And we STRONGLY OPPOSE the proposed service cuts and fare hike approved March 25, 2009.
