On March 18 2009, Alan Ferguson, Australian Liberal Senator for South Australia criticized the Hon Michael Atkinson for stating that "The nationalist Turks led by Mustafa Kemal's forces and their frenzied followers began to persecute them through beatings, murder, forced marches and labour, theft of their properties and livelihood, rape, torture and deportations."

Alan Ferguson goes on, in reference to the above comment, to say "We can all rewrite history" calling the issue "debatable" and stating that the Pontic Greeks and Armenians are "trying to put today's moral judgement on events that took place 100 years ago."

We, the undersigned, call on Liberal Senator Alan Ferguson to retract the speech he made on the 18th of March 2009 labeled "The Turkish-Australian Community"

We the undersigned also demand that Alan Ferguson:

apologize in the public forum to the Hellenic, Armenian and Assyrian communities for trivializing the Genocide of their people.

commit to research all information before commenting on the issue at hand and use facts when backing his statements with relation to the Genocide of the Hellenic, Armenian and Assyrian peoples

apologize in the public forum to the Hon Michael Atkinson for his unjustified and biased attack.

write to the Turkish Ambassador seeking Turkey's recognition and apology of the Hellenic, Armenian and Assyrian Genocides between 1912-1923.
