In my three years as an academy park student, I noticed that teens such as I love to argue.
Also, I feel strong for the debate concept. So I think our idea to form this club will fit well in our school community and help keep people out of trouble and off the streets.
Students can let their feelings out, not just in classes.
The club’s goal would be to further educate and resolve conflict with students and to help kids gain experience with conflict resolution strategies and want to improve social communication skills.
I propose to meet at least 2 or 3 times a week and later on, once we get enough people on board and enough findings, we can go to other schools and debate against a different environment.
We would pick a topic study each week. For example, let’s say there are 20 students 10 students would be on one side and 10 students on the other side. At the end of the year, the top 3 students considered the best debaters can represent the school in the Pennsylvania debate team.
Structure: 30-45 minute classes with a topic of research and two teams
