Hundreds of drivers and motorcyclists tell of sending their driving licence to the DVLA to update details such as their address and receiving a replacement with entitlement to use a particular vehicle type missing.

When notified the DVLA claims they have never had such an entitlement. Many experienced motorcyclists have been forced to retake their riding test in order to have their entitlement to ride a motorcycle reinstated. The evidence DVLA makes such mistakes is overwhelming.

In some cases riders have photocopies of the motorcycle licence the DVLA insists has never existed. Yet the Agency has yet to admit fault in a single case.

We the undersigned petition the DVLA to cut the corner off old driving licences and return them to licence holders when replacements are issued.

Where a licence holder believes entitlement to use a particular vehicle type is missing from a replacement licence, such a system would allow them to prove a mistake had been made and save them having to retake their test for that vehicle type.
