Viretta Park is a 1.8-acre (7,300 m2) park in the Denny-Blaine neighborhood of Seattle, Washington at the foot of E. John Street at 39th Avenue E., stretching down to Lake Washington Boulevard E. It was named by Charles L. Denny after his wife, Viretta Jackson Denny. It is located south of the former home of Kurt Cobain, where he died. Kurt would walk in the park often.

Nirvana fans gather at the park on the anniversary of Cobain's death (April 5) to pay tribute to the musician. The park's benches are covered with graffiti messages to the rock icon. The Park should remain untouched, as it was when he was alive.

Many believe Kurt Cobain was more significant to the history of Seattle then Viretta Jackson Denny. We have Denny Park. That is enough of a memorial to the founders.

We, the undersigned, call on the Seattle Parks and Recreation to rename Viretta Park to reflect the historical significance of the band Nirvana and Kurt Cobain.

Because this park was a frequent haunt of Kurt, it should be considered that the park be renamed to reflect the musician.
