Teen killed in Third Ward quadruple shooting

HOUSTON – One person was killed in a quadruple shooting in Houston's Third Ward, police said early Thursday.
The shooting was reported on Burkett near Holman before 4 a.m., not far from Texas Southern University.
Those who knew the victim who died said the young man was only 17 years old. At least one of the other three people shot was said to be unresponsive as he was taken to the hospital.
All of the victims were said to be in their older teens or early twenties.
Family members identified the killed teen as William Orobio, saying he had just finished his junior year at Yates High School.
Police said a fight between rival gangs at a night club on O.S.T. near 288 may have led up to the shootings, but the investigation is still underway. A detailed description of the gunman was not available.
Neighbors tell KHOU 11 News that gun violence is spiraling out of control in the community.
We, the undersigned, call on the City of Houston's Mayor office to close down these two businesses located on Dixie Drive which is the corner convenience store and motel due to the harboring of car burglary, drug, gang and prostitution activity.
