The Village of Cleveland, IL, currently has three Cleveland Village Board positions that are elected by the Cleveland, IL, voting residents and two Cleveland Village Board positions that are appointed by the Mayor of the Village of Cleveland.
The current elected positions are the Mayor, ....... The positions of Treasurer and Secretary of the Village of Cleveland, IL are currently appointed by the Mayor of the Village of Cleveland, IL. These two positions, Treasurer and Secretary, were previously "voted" positions.
Appointed positions may not reflect the true needs and desires of the majority of the residents of the Village of Cleveland, IL. This petition also includes elected positions vacated, either by resignation or firing (termination) by the Mayor.
Currently, all vacated positions are appointed by the Mayor of the Village of Cleveland, Il. Vacated positions, either by resignation or termination, should also be voted on by the voting residents of the Village of Cleveland, IL, which may require a "Special Election" to assure all positions are occupied within a reasonable time.
We, the undersigned, of sound mind petition the Village of Cleveland, IL, to assure all positions of the Village of Cleveland, IL board, to include the Treasurer and Secretary, are elected positions.
Petition further requests the Village of Cleveland, IL conduct a special election for all Village of Cleveland, IL board positions that are vacated, for whatever reason to include resignation or termination.
The special election should be conducted within 45 days of the vacating of the election position. It should be noted that the Village of Cleveland, IL Treasurer and Secretary positions were previously elected positions and we petition they be returned to elected position status.
Allowing the Mayor of the Village of Cleveland, IL to continue filling Village of Cleveland, IL board members, to include all elected positions.
