It has come to the attention of the Oxford community, and particularly this year's graduating class, that the graduation ceremony scheduled for June 15, 2015, is to be held indoors in order to save money on the coordination of the event.
While we understand this concern, we believe that a graduation outside would not only serve to utilize the outstanding new Wolverine Field facility, but would also be more convenient for the attending parents and families who will not need to endure the ridiculous summer temperatures of the gymnasium, or worse, not be able to experience the graduation firsthand at all.
If money is truly the issue, we will commit ourselves to fundraising efforts until the necessary amount can be acquired. An outdoor graduation, as it did last year, would offer a beautiful ceremony through which the senior class might move on to better things, a larger and more comfortable setting for attending family members and friends, and a perfect utilization of our brand-new multipurpose field.
We, the undersigned Oxford High School senior class of 2015, call upon the administration of Oxford High School to provide us an outdoor graduation, on Wolverine Field.
