The City of Coppell and the Park and Recreation board has devised a master plan for 2030 to renovate and re brand the existing park system as well as add new structures. It asked the citizens to pass a sales tax increase but did not disclose the full extent of the changes nor did it get a reasonable amount of regular citizen input before deveoping the master plan.
Currently the city is proposing a 35 million dollar bond election to implement the proposed changes. The changes include moving and decreasing the amount of softball and baseball fields, decreaseing trail connectivity, erecting structures, and placing a tournament sports facility in a residential neighborhood.
We the undersigned call on the leaders of the Coppell City Council and Coppell City Parks (CRDC) to consider additional public input from citizens prior to implememting any further changes, cost allocations, or construction.
