In October/November 2006 the road sign of Church road was changed to Church lane. This was because a councillor who lived in Church road e- mailed Ashford borough council stating that there was some confusion over the name of Church road and it was also known locally as Church lane she signed this e - mail as Kenardington parish council.
This confused Ashford borough council who thought the request was from Kenardington parish council. They then carried out the name change without contacting Kenardington parish council. Research has shown that in the Great war 1914 - 1919 Church road was so named as it is in the Register of electors since 1929 till 1997. The only instance of a Church lane was in "The Kent Gazeteer" that commenced in the year 2000 so has little bearing on the history of the village.
We the undersigned would like the name of Church road to be reinstated, in keeping with the history of the village of Kenardington.
