Target:
Parents with existing children at a school
Region:
United Kingdom

Current primary school admissions policy states that children that live in the apparent catchment area of a certain school are given a priority place for primary education there.

For any parent who already has a child at that school, they are not given any preference even if they live out of area.

The current admissions policy does not take into consideration current economic circumstances which has forced many parents to move area's but chose to keep their existing child/ ren at that school as a source of continiuty in their lives or placed any regard to social circumstances e.g bullying. Some older siblings have chosen to go to a specific school through bullying elsewhere.

When allocating siblings spaces at other schools they don't consider the practicality of how a parent can collect children from 2 different schools at the same time.

We the undersigned, call on Derbyshire County Council to re-evaluate the current Primary School Admissions Procedure to give parents with existing siblings at any given school equal priority to live in catchment area places.
