One of my children has a mental illness. I recently found out that by law the Missouri school board can hold his past offences against him for any future offence. His past offenses were done before we found out about his illness. Which means on the time that these offences occurred he did not know what he was doing. And still has no recall of any memory of these offenses. In short i don't think the schools should be bringing up his past to punish his future offenses.

Children with mental illness need guideline and support not to be punished over and over again for old problems. The school claims that they do everything to protect and guide children . But this is not true. I am posing this petition to change the Missouri guide lines to accept, learn and justly with in reason punish offenses made by mentally ill students.

Each offence should be handled as a new offence each time without their past being brought up each time. Children with mental illness have a hard enough time adjusting and coping with difficult situations. Some are not even award of what they done wrong. So instead of hindering their mental growth i suggest that the by laws be adjusted to fully take into perspective the ramifications that can cause harm in their current laws, be adjusted to help.

Right now due to the school bylaws the way they are set up. These kids suffer more from ptsd that causes more mental duress. I am seeking to change this. Not just for my children. But for children threw out the state that suffer from mental illness. In any way shape form or fashion.

Help change the way schools punish mentally ill students. Let's help them rather than do more harm.

I pose the current bylaws be changed to not include past offenses. And just focus on the current offence.

Stop labeling children with these issues as trouble or reoccurring.
