The reason for my petition Change healthcare budgets on joint surgery in Ontario is my sons last two year battle waiting for a life saving surgery.
My son was 16 and needed a titanium joint replacement of his jaw. We were told that there was a 4 yr wait period,Cody was going to endure the worst time of his life. We were introduced to the world of narcotics,he was taking 1000 mg of morphine a day until his respiratory became a 7 and heart rate 32. I knew that if I didn't get involved I would lose my son.
So I learned quick that the budgets for such surgery had not been increased since 1995. We took our story to the media and Queen's Park with our MPP had funding increased for two short years and that leaves me where I am today,trying to save my son from another horrible wait.
Change healthcare budgets on joint surgery in Ontario is a petition I am starting in regards to the last two year battle my son Cody Hughes has endured. It has been brought to my attention that long wait lists exists for any joint surgery reconstructive surgery.
Our son had a long battle and had to experience a quality of life that nobody in Ontario should have to: Morphine, hydro morphone, oxy until his heart almost stopped because of a long wait list for his surgery. The wait lists are up to 4 years long. Budgets for such surgery as his had not had an increase since 1995.
I am asking you to view our story and to help me make positive much needed change in the healthcare system so our love ones do not have to suffer as Cody and so many others are.
