Clark Elementary school serves approximately 200 elementary age students. It is located on a full city block east of Union Boulevard and south of Cabanne Avenue.
An engineering analysis conducted by Trail Systems Engineering reveals dangerous traffic conditions on Cabanne Ave. due to buses loading/unloading, erratic drivers, jay-walking and wrong-way driving. Such hazards are beyond the ability of elementary children to cross safely.
Teachers and staff at Clark Elementary have become increasingly concerned about the general confusion surrounding the street which has resulted in 4 child vehicle accidents in the last 2 yrs.
We, the undersigned, call on the City of ST. LOUIS CITY to re-designate CABANNE AVENUE from a two-way to a one-way street flowing east away from Union Boulevard until the traffic circle at Clarendon Avenue intersection.
