On 14th August, Egyptian military force attempted to clear and crack down the protest camp and followed by brutal suppression of supporters of the ousted president Mohammed Morsi. Confrontation was triggered off between the two camps.
According to official release, over 800 civilians have been killed, including foreign correspondents; while British Broadcasting Corporation quoted from Muslim Brotherhood that over 2,000 civilians died.
We, the undersigned, long for the long-term peaceful settlement of both camps, so we call on Egypt's interim government to cease gunfire and avoid any civilian casualties.
