Petition Background (Preamble):
Bumper to bumper traffic is a common problem along Rte. 1 in College Park and throughout the University of Maryland campus.
The result is an increase in air pollution, noise pollution, accidents, and travel time for frustrated motorists who are also dealing with the rising costs of fueling, maintaining, and servicing their vehicles.
Currently the most used transportation in college park is a car driven alone. In addition, the majority of these trips are less than a 10 minute drive. Alternatively, biking produces no pollution, decreases traffic, and is a cheap and healthy means of travel.

We, the undersigned, call on the Capital Bikeshare to expand to encompass the University of Maryland and the surrounding College Park area.
