Canada does not have unlimited income. Some people make a lot of money, but others are suffering, particulary in Northern Canada. The oil industry in the Peace Region, and northern Alberta makes a lot of money for some, but others, like single mothers are caught in the lack of affordable, decent housing.
We need to cap the rents in these parts, as a two bedroom apartment in Fort St John is about 1400 to 1600 a month.
For young people, and single parents, and even young working lads, or older people that is almost a whole cheque. So what do you live on? Nothing. What can you spend, retail wise? Nothing. That is why retail places are in trouble. Wise up.
Cap the rent.
