This petition urges the Council to declare Wrexham County Borough a Frack Free Zone and to oppose plans to drill for unconventional gas in the area local residents regarding plans to drill for unconventional gas in the Wrexham area.
The drilling process for extracting unconventional gas, involves pumping a toxic cocktail of chemicals and high-pressure water into the ground to free the gas. This process will, risk pollution of our water supply, endanger the health of local people and animals, raise the danger of subsidence due to tremors caused by the process, threaten the environment and risk disturbing the last resting place of the victims of the Gresford Disaster of 1934.
We the undersigned call upon Wrexham Council to pass a motion declaring the County Borough a Frack Free zone.
