Large numbers of UQ students living in suburbs neighbouring St Lucia are forced to use bus routes that aren't time-economical, or to drive to uni.
Fact: a person living at the gap can get to university slower than one living at Mt Cotton (1 hour, vs 50 minutes).
We undersigned believe there are grounds for a bus servicing University of Queensland students from the Gap, Ashgrove, Toowong and Rainworth.
Currently, students clog up transport links by being forced to take two buses (one to the city, another back out) to cover quite a short distance.
Instead of a one hour bus ride to go two suburbs, this trip could instead be cut to 30 minutes.
The proposed bus would run only during university semester, half-hourly during the morning and (if resources are available) during the afternoon. A rough proposed route is available here:
