Boulder Parks and Recreation Department

United States of America

The city of Boulder does not operate a public indoor tennis facility. There are 11 indoor courts operated by private clubs in Boulder. Indoor courts represent only ~6.7% of the total number of tennis courts in Boulder. Many tennis players don't have access to these private clubs because of expense and the extensive wait lists lasting as long as four years to join.

Tennis is a sport played by Boulder community members of ALL ages and abilities. To restrict our community to having only expensive and exclusive private clubs providing indoor tennis courts restricts community access to year round tennis opportunities.

ALL community members should have access to indoor tennis courts regardless of social or cultural inequities. Similar to indoor aquatics facilities, indoor tennis facilities extend the health and wellness benefits of athletics year round. Boulder Parks and Recreation has existing tennis courts that could be covered for year round play for all ages and abilities.

We, the undersigned, call on the Boulder Parks and Recreation Department to provide public indoor tennis courts and create the opportunity to play year round in Boulder for ALL community members.
