We hear constantly that kids should be active in sports and I believe as parents we agree that having our children participate benefits them socially, physically and mentally.

However many are finding that the social and mental aspect is faltering. Having registered my children for many years in many different clubs, I can say that the love of the game is diminishing.

I as well as many others have said that it is not about the children anymore. When choosing a club it is not decided on which club can better teach their child to play it is now which club has less politics.

Clubs are posting strict no return policies and I have to wonder if it’s because they lose so many kids based on their decisions. Evaluations are no longer done based on skill but rather on who you know.

I am starting this petition and I urge you all to pass it around and sign it. Its about time the we take this a little higher and bring back the game of soccer for the kids. It has come to a point where we no longer have a voice and we just have to accept.

We the undersigned would like CMSA to review the current procedures listed and make changes.

Evaluation processes – No evaluations should be completed by anyone within the particular club. Evaluations should be done by outside volunteers who can base the evaluation purely on the skills a child possesses.

Refund/registration policies – Clubs should charge an upfront fee for example $100 non refundable. After evaluation process and team placement they can either withdraw or pay the remaining amount within 5 days.

The board members for CMSA should not include anyone who is currently on the executive team or coaching within a club.

All appeals for team placement, refunds and other situations being appealed need to have some guidelines as to how they are handled.

1) A limitation on how long they take
2) A description of why it was approved/denied
3) Filed with CMSA
4) Signed by all parties involved in the ruling.
