"Stubbies are a type of bottle which is shorter and with a slightly larger diameter than the now predominant longneck bottle. Starting in 1962 almost all beer in Canada was sold in stubbies until the beer companies chose to switch to the American-style longneck bottle, between 1982 and 1986."
- Wikipedia

"We feel that we as Canadians were robbed a little bit of our cultural sovereignty when the stubbies slowly turned into long-neck Americanized beer bottles. Stubbies played an important part of Canadian cultural history and are certainly a symbol of Canadiana."

A petition for the Brewers of Canada. It's for the idea of the breweries taking part in a re-issue as a special promotion for Canada Day in 2008 (or 2009).

We, the undersigned, request the Brewers of Canada have a re-issue of the stubby bottle for Canada Day 2008.
