Australia

I am writing to you in hope that you will show your support in a matter that needs a great deal of attention, and stand up and be counted for the future of our children and Australia.

The matter I refer to is censorship. What ever happened to censorship??

Everyday of our lives in Australia we are subjected to swearing, suggestive media, near naked and fully naked women. Whether it be on radio, television, in papers, magazines, on billboards, shop windows, etc – we cannot get away from it. Even sporting events ruin the “family atmosphere” by introducing scantily clad women.

WHY IS IT NECESSARY???

In short, it is not. It is just an ego trip for those exposing themselves. Do we not deserve a smut free existence?? We persecute smokers and ban all activity and advertising, yet we constantly expose our children to something that is just as evil to their health – both mentally and physically.

Being the mother of three (son aged 24, and two daughters aged 19 and 21), I have seen first hand just what effect this smut has had on our future generations. And the effects are not exclusive to the young.

THE EFFECTS……

Walk through any girls section of a children’s clothing store. Frilly bra’s and knickers for 3 year olds?? For goodness sake, they are barely out of nappies and being put into lacy lingerie – and why?? So the can look like some figure they have seen through the media.

Little girls are no longer allowed to be little girls – and little boys are growing up seeing little girls as objects, not people.

It causes horrific body image problems in little girls, teenage and adult woman alike. Recent statistics show that 1% of Australian women think they are beautiful. That is a disgusting statistic and shows just what these images have done to Australian women’s self esteem. It ravages a females normal healthy mental state trying – how many girls have to commit suicide or starve themselves to death before we sit up and take notice??

Child molestation in this country is on the rise – why? Because little girls are imitating the scantily clad women they are seeing on a daily basis ….. all to try and “fit in”. How can anyone but a pedophile appreciate the recent so called “ART” of naked children?? It is just disgusting that a child that young is baring it all for “ART”. What is wrong with our society?? I applaud Kevin Rudd and his government for the stand taken on this issue.

I would just about bet my life on the fact that since all the censorship was dropped, and the promiscuity took over, divorces rates have risen.

Sex doesn’t sell like it use to – we have all had it thrust upon us so much – so why use it?? The only impact it has now is to the detriment of our society.

Bad language and violence are also prevalent. What is this teaching our children?? We complain about the attitude and language of the younger generations, but we are the ones who exposed them to it and taught them it is acceptable.

After spending 3 months in Thailand last year, I realized just what damage we have done to our Australian community. The Thai’s protect their children from smut and it shows. The children are happy, polite and well adjusted – the way we used to be.

It is time that Australia bought back censorship. It is time we protected our children. It is time families are able to share an event together without being exposed to scantily clad women. It is time we showed our children that it is not ok to use foul language and violence. It is time to turn the clock back and reinstate the morals, ethics and standards we let go.

Bring back our censorship and reinstate decency. Give our nation back the pride and class we used to have. Give our children and Australia’s future back the guidelines they so sadly lack. Let our children be children again.

Please, if you have any regard for the detriment that this is causing our society, lobby to bring back the standards our nation seems to have forgotten.

We, the undersigned, call upon the Australian Government to re-instate censorship in this country for the sake of future generations and families, and to restore morals, ethics and standards in our every day lives.

The lack of censorship, and the flood of promiscuity, has affected our once beautiful country in so many ways.

Recent statistics show 1% of Australian women think they are beautiful - a disgusting statistic. Children are being photographed naked in the name of "Art". Girls are committing suicide because they dont measure up to the images they seeing everyday, and starving themselves to death in an effort to become more like the images they see everyday. Swearing and violence have become part of everyday life. Family events are no longer family events since the introduction of scantily clad females. Little girls as young as three are wearing lacy lingerie all in the name of trying to "fit in".

Please let our children be children, let families be families, save our female communities self esteem and bring back the morals and standards our country used to have - they worked.
