I truly appreciate how the teachers and parents go about the snacks for special parties during school hours. They always make them fun, intriguing and most of all healthy.
When my son came home telling me he couldn't bring cupcakes in for his birthday I quickly looked into it and was highly disappointed as to what I found. Out of all the holidays in the school year, that the kids eat healthy which again i think is a good way to teach them that they can have fun eating healthy too, and im sure most other days when the kids eat cold or hot lunches they are eating healthy as well.
My issue is that one day a year my son or daughter gets to celebrate and enjoy their birthday with their friends. I don't feel that its up to the school board to decide what my child eats on his or her birthday. So I say we bring back the cake and allow our children to enjoy their birthdays with their friends.
We, the undersigned, call on RSU2 ( Halldale) to the eliminate the rule and allow children to bring in cake, cup cakes and cookies in on their birthdays.
For those students with allergies, their are cake mixes out their that are nut free and Hannaford and Shaws do a nut free cake. so please bring back the cake for the kids and the teachers!
