I would like to bring awareness to healthcare professionals and physicians of the dangers of prescribing tramadol.
I am a recovering addict! My drug of choice was tramadol. Tramadol was very easy for me to obtain as most physicians believe it is a safe and great alternative for pain relief. Physicians also believe there is no potential for abuse or dependency.
From my own experience, I can assure you that tramadol is highly addictive. I was being prescribed tramadol for a year and a half and physicians would write RX's with no second thought, as if it was similar to Advil or Tylenol. Most RX's were wrote for 60 pills with 3-4 refills!
Detoxing off tramadol was horrible, which included, depression, anxiety, muscle aches, agitation, insomnia, and ultimately ending up at a rehab center to get my life back!
We, the undersigned, call upon health care professionals and physicians to be aware of the potential for chemical dependency of tramadol and to decrease the RX's wrote for tramadol, quantity, and refills.
We also ask for physicians to monitor patients very closely that are prescribed tramadol, and watch for signs of abusive behavior.
