July 13, 1848 was the beginning of the Women's Rights Movement started by Elizabeth Stanton and 4 female friends. The first convention was held that same year in Seneca Falls, New York. Susan B. Anthony would later join Elizabeth Stanton and they would be the founding mothers of the National Woman Suffrage Association. Colorado is the first state to adopt an amendment giving women the right to vote in 1893.

In 1896 the National Association of Colored Women is formed led by Josephine St. Pierre Ruffin, Mary Church Terrell and Anna Julia Cooper. August 26, 1920 the 19th Amendment to the Constitution is signed into law. Women of Distinction are the ones mentioned above and also include many others such as Nancy Astor, politician born 1879 became the first woman to take a seat in the House of Commons in 1919, Angela Berners-Wilson, priest born 1955 became the first woman to join the priesthood, Rosalind Franklin, scientist born 1920 is the mother of the DNA providing the research for the double helix, Harriet Tubman Civil Rights activist born 1822.

Simply put women have been struggling to give life, save them, make lives better and equality since the days of Adam and Eve. I get the Bruce (Caitlyn) Jenner is a Transsexual and I get that and wish the best for him in his new life. However, this petition is written to say Shame on Glamour for stepping on the backs of ACTUAL Women who MORE deserve the Woman of the Year Award who are not household names like the Jenner name.

It sounds like Glamour is more interested in selling mags to the fans of the Kardashians and Jenners than the BIOLOGICIAL Women actually making a difference such as the 2 female rangers, Queen Elizabeth breaking the monarch record, the first NFL coach, Misty Copeland the first Black ballerina too many others had you done your research.

Dear Glamour,

I was recently inspired by a 13 year old Pembroke girl named Ayla Ludlow who wrote a letter to the President in regards to women athletes. Young Ayla already knows the struggles of growing up as a female. I am asking all of my Facebook friends, their Facebook friends and the public to boycott your magazine because of the recent decision you made to honor Caitlyn Jenner as Woman of the Year. How offensive that you could not have found a BIOLOGICAL female to fulfill your request.

There have been many women newsworthy this year which include Queen Elizabeth the longest living monarch in history, the first female NFL coach, 2 women graduating from the Army Ranger program, many others had you done a little research. I am tired of sending messages to little girls that in order to be wonderful or beautiful that you have to look like the Jenners, Kardashians or someone else from Hollywood who can afford to have plastic surgery and be BEAUTIFUL in the eyes of the world. Ridiculous! I know your intention is to tell sell magazines, but at what costs?

We need for the media to start taking responsibility for the fake messages that they send out to Jane Doe. Let's boycott this magazine and their choice and ask that they do a better job of representing TODAY'S woman.
