George O'dowd aka Boy George was sentenced to 15 months in jail on January, 16, 2009; convicted on false imprisonment charges.

Please see all headlines, as there are far too many to list.

We the people strongly urge the courts to modify the sentence of George O’dowd aka Boy George.

As it is the full intent of the courts to protect the public from the most dangerous and serious offenders, it is the government’s duty to protect all under the Human Rights Act 1998.

In a recent Directgov article published on July, 2008, http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/DG_170371,

It was said:
"Putting offenders through tough community sentences can often be more effective in reducing re-offending than a short spell in prison."
Justice Minister David Hanson

Magistrate Nicholas Moss said: "It’s essential that we all have confidence in the system. One of the ways we can do that is by understanding how community sentencing works and the options available to courts. As magistrates, we exercise our judicial independence by passing sentences which we consider achieve a fair balance between punishing individuals for their crimes and giving them a chance to change, thereby improving the prospect that they won’t offend again."

We believe the sentence George O’dowd received, lacks the court's responsibility of its duties to ensure his safety and fair balance.

We propose community service and a drug rehabilitation program that will help ensure the effectiveness of our system.
