We have initiated this petition to strengthen the AEU negotiators position in their discussions with the government. Please support us by signing this petition. Teachers Alliance Councillors will present this petition to AEU Council.
The AEU is currently attempting to negotiate an agreement with the State government. The members
have agreed on a log of claims that encompasses many demands.
We believe that there are some fundamental features of the log of claims that must be included in the new agreement.
We the undersigned recognise that teacher workload is onerous and has been increasing each year and
therefore we want the agreement to deliver significant improvements in at least the following conditions and we want them to be enforceable statewide:
• Decrease in class sizes
• Real pay rises above the CPI for all teachers
• Enforceable maximum class sizes across the board
• Decrease in the face-to-face teaching time
• No productivity trade-offs for pay rise
• Enforceable maximum face-to-face teaching time
• No performance or professional pay
• Decrease in the number of Extras
• Reduction of contract teaching
• Specified time and pay for extra duties.
