Bendigo hospital elective surgery wait list

I'm starting this petition to stop the lengthy time people have to wait to have elective surgery at Bendigo Health/hospital,and the right for all Victorian to have access to a better health service.

The aim of this petition is to help others to not go through what l have been through.

I had an accident on Sept 16 2012 were l fell from a 12ft wall down onto bluestone. My injuries were bilateral comminuted caicaneal fractures more severe on the right (basically l shattered both of my feet) and internal disruption to both knee joints. My left knee has a complete tear to the ACL and a slight tear to the right knee.

When l first had the accident l was told by the doctors that it would be a 12 month recovery time frame.,l will need to have a number of operations, physio and healing time.

I have seen a number of doctors/registrars and all have agreed on the type of surgery, yet it's 18mths on, and l'm still waiting.l did get an operation in January this year only on my right foot, l was told it would be a 5day stay in hospital after surgery, but l was taken to my room after the operation in the evening and by 9am the next day l was rushed out the door.

I'm now left to try and put my weight onto my left side,but my knee can't take it due to the ACL. I'm in a lot of pain and have limited movement. l have spent the past 18 months locked away in my home, not able to go out much at all. l have no social life and my stress level is extreme, it's been hard on my four children, l was a dad who did everything with my children, we loved fishing, going on outings all of this has had to stop.

Before I had the accident l ran a small lawn mowing business who helped the age and disable,for "more then 10 years l have now lost my business and were losing our family home.

No one should have to go through so much hardship and stress just to have an operation. I'm calling on anyone who is on the wait list, or going back and forth to the outpatient clinic trying to get an operation, or if you or someone you know is in the same boat to sign this petition, write or call the complaint dept at Bendigo health or to the minister of health.
