The Basenji Breed Network Australia (BBNA) Limited (ACN: 163072062) Board are requesting all of its members to join together to sign the following petition in support of Basenji Breed Network Queensland (BBNQ) to apply to Dogs Queensland (DQ) for Social Club status.

Securing Social Club status with DQ is a necessary first step in the journey for BBNQ to affiliate with Dogs Queensland in the future.

The history of BBNQ shows that it became a Queensland Incorporated Association on 6th June 2013 (IA41106). BBNQ is the breed club for all things Basenji in Queensland. It is committed to the preservation, protection and promotion of the Basenji breed.

BBNQ has 43 fully financial members who reside in Queensland. Its membership grows each month and it enjoys a healthy, competitive culture. It provides a club environment for both ANKC registered exhibitors of Basenjis and also members who have companion Basenjis.

BBNQ key objectives are to:

a) promote the Basenji in the show ring and in the public arena;
b) expand knowledge and interest in Basenjis;
c) act as custodians of the Basenji breed in Queensland;
d) protect the welfare of the Basenji breed;
e) share expertise on, and training in, and socialisation opportunities with the Basenji breed;
f) encourage more people to exhibit the Basenji; and
g) promote responsible breeding of the Basenji.

The Basenji breed is well represented in Queensland and has been active in the ring for 28 years. In 2013 approximately 30 Basenjis participated regularly in Queensland shows and, at many shows there were at least 6 Basenjis entered.

Additionally a record was set in 2013 for the largest number of Basenjis ever entered in a show(s) in Queensland, where 23, 20, and 23 Basenjis were entered on 3 consecutive days respectively.

It is the intention of BBNQ to leave a lasting legacy for Basenjis in Queensland that will continue into the future and for the Basenji breed to be represented in its own Basenji Championships in Queensland.

BBNQ has provided an optimistic future for the Basenji in Queensland.

We, the undersigned Members of Basenji Breed Network Queensland (BBNQ) Inc., respectfully request Dogs Queensland to grant Social Club status to BBNQ, thereby making it possible for BBNQ to work towards gaining affiliation with Dogs Queensland in the future.
