Our FCCLA STAR Event project, in the category of advocacy, is centered on banning public smoking in Missouri. Tobacco has over 4,000 chemicals and 200 of those chemicals are poisons. Almost 40 of those chemicals could cause cancer.
Not only is cancer a factor, but secondhand smoke increases your risk of heart disease. Up to 1,000,000 children with asthma have had their condition worsen because of secondhand smoke.
"We, the undersigned, call on the Missouri government to ban public smoking in Missouri." We ask that you think of the children that could be in danger of acquiring secondhand smoke.
Take a stand to be a leader in your community to eliminate public smoking. Remember changes in your community lead to changes in the state, changes in the state lead to changes for the nation.
