Better Banking For Britain

In common with most people you probably feel a genuine sense of outrage and injustice about the state the banking industry has got this country into through their greed fuelled irresponsibility.

However, you don’t necessarily feel like storming the police barricade around the Bank of England or throwing a brick at Fred Goodwin’s house (Edinburgh is a long drive for many people!).

Never the less there is a way that you can register your disapproval that is both legal and democratic. Simply add your name to this petition and let the Government and the other political parties know that we want genuine and lasting reform of a system that has been allowed to run amok for the benefit of the few and the detriment of the many.

The UK Taxpayer has funded the financial rescue of a number of UK Banking businesses. The best way for us, the Taxpayer, to get any real return on our investment and to ensure good future practice within the UK banking industry will be to completely Nationalise these institutions and merge them into a single publicly owned banking entity.

This could then be re-branded on the high street as "Bank of Britain" and would give the Taxpayer a major industry presence that could set the benchmark for future industry governance and practice.

This would enable us to keep the industry on an even keel, to appoint people to senior positions who are guided by their principles and integrity as well as a certain sense of morality and decency instead of unfettered ego.

It would be able to impose sensible rates of pay and reward and above all else it would mean that when this bank starts making money again, as it inevitably will now that we have saved it from financial oblivion, the money will belong to us, the taxpaying citizens of the United Kingdom.
