In Torrevieja and presumably other areas of the Costa Blanca, circuses are allowed to set up and function during the holiday periods.
Large animals such as tigers, lions and elephants are not only made to perform night after night, but kept in small cages or metal trailers parked up on waste ground or even supermarket carparks during the day.
These poor animals are often on view for people to take photos and have no shade, no room to move and more often than not no access to water.
I feel this is a cruel, barbaric practice and should be outlawed.
We, the undersigned, call on the ayuntamiento of Torrevieja to refuse licenses for the staging of circuses involving animals.
We consider this to be a barbaric practice incurring the inhumane, treatment of animals.
Local residents do not want to see aminals cruelly tied up in the open air on roadsides and in carparks.
