A dog can hear about 4 times the distance of a human who has normal hearing. Dogs can hear higher pitched sounds that humans cannot hear. They often bark at vacuums because they hear a very loud annoying pitch to their motors. Cats' sense of hearing is remarkably superior to that of humans. According to this article, cats' hearing range (in Hz) is 45 to 64,000, compared to 64-23,000 in humans. This means that cats can hear sounds we can't hear on both ends of the spectrum, particularly the higher end.

Cats' ears are uniquely designed to draw sound into the ear canal, which enables them to hear sounds like a mouse rustling in the brush 30 feet away. By the same token, their ears are more sensitive to higher amplitude of sound.

So we can only imagine how loud fireworks are to them. Every year in the run up to Guy Fawks they have to put up with these noises every night terrifying them and stressing them out. Its about time that the animals welfare is thought of and the law is changed to only allow fireworks at organised displays on fireworks night ONLY.

We, the undersigned, call on the government to change the law on firework sales.

We request that fireworks are only allowed at organised displays to save thousands of animals being terrified for weeks before and after November 5th.
