Ask the Crown Prosecution Service in Northern Ireland to drop case against Pastor Jim McConnell

Pastor Jim McConnell preaching in his church in Belfast expressed the view that radical Islam is violent, that the Islamic faith from which it came is tending towards a violent attitude towards all non Moslem peoples. He likened them to the IRA of the 1970's era were it is known that terror cells existed.
As a Christian he is mandated by his faith to call all men and women to the Christian faith He like all Christians do not force by violence anybody to come but the call must be clear, and the Islamic faith is contrary to all that the Christian faith teaches. As well as using his religious freedom he has a right to free speech.
Pastor McConnell has expressed that he does not hate moslems, in fact he hates nobody, but he does love Jesus Christ, and it is this love that compels him in love to call all men to follow Jesus.
He has never incited hate, in fact he has stood for peace and love throughout the sad history of Northern Ireland being a clarion call to all.
We the undersigned call on the Crown Prosecution Services of Northern Ireland to immediately drop the case against Pastor Jim McConnell, as it is unwarranted and ill advised and a direct attack on free speech and religious liberty.
The motivation for this case is not justice, but is driven by the very threat of Islamic violence that Pastor McConnell expressed in his sermon.
Pastor McConnell is an elderly man of principles and is prepared to go to prison if that happens, and it should be noted that in our opinion if an Islamic preacher, and there are many who do, attacked the Christian faith no such case would be taken.
