Gaston County lacks a quality aquatic center that can provide swimming lessons, water safety training, scuba lessons, training for year round swimmers, a place to provide swim meets for year round swim teams and high school swim teams.
The only place in this community that we have for aquatics is the downtown YMCA that is outdated, poor quality, and lacks space for these activities.
