Target: The International Olympic Committee
Background (Preamble):
I and many others believe that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which as a sport is highly under-appreciated in the wider population. We believe it would be highly relevant for the first ever Olympics to recognise and allow Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a competitive sport in the Rio De Janeiro Olympics in 2016.

While we understand that the ever growing number of sports included, especially from increased pressure from larger sports has meant that there are already a significant number of events that cannot be fully covered. It would almost be inappropriate for one of the national sports of such an influential and prosperous country not to be included in their first ever Olympics.

It is already a highly competitive sport with millions of elite competitors world wide and already has world championships in which a high level of competition makes for extremely exciting viewing.
Petition:
In signing this petition, you will be voting for the inclusion of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro. As one of the recognised national sports of Brazil and an influence on much of their culture and society, we believe it would be an injustice for competitive BJJ not to be included.

With a high number of individuals already practising and a great deal of elite athletes competing for world championships, it's seems an ideal time for this martial art to be seen and enjoyed by a wider population. Please sign this petition in recognition of this great sport and inform any others that have the belief this sport belongs on the biggest stage possible.
